Sir Luther Anshelm has them in stock, and polished enough to closely resemble steel. Good price, too.

I traded Fergus some lamellar plates for these arms, but they totally don't fit me. They originally belonged to Bob Hurley. If you like them, let me know. I'll make a point to clean the rust off them before I send them out.

That helm was made by Sir Alail, who posts here. The high bidder (An Tirian) is me. I really don't want this helmet, I just bid to get things rolling. My bid was (I think) $75, don't hesitate to outbid me. I suspect there are several people with ~$300 waiting to bid at the last moment, but you never...

I don't know, If I have a Viking persona, and I can fight well with sword, small & long axe, scramaseax, six foot and nine foot spear, I would say that I've achieved martial prowess. I wouldn't feel the need to take up the billhook or crossbow, I've figured out every weapon that existed during my li...

My persona is a Dane in the year 802, and I only fight with a sword, a six foot spear, and a small axe. The spear I only use at practice because I get clubbed http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif Also available to me would be scramaseaxes, long handled axes, and spears of greater lengths. Asid...

Sniffing around for documentation for leather lamellar, I found the scan from the Osprey book with the impossible armour
http://www.medieval.co.nz/images/AnlgoNorman11_12th.jpg
The Norman infantryman, his sleeves & aventail simply wouldn't work that way.

Also, Robert De Tyre documents three leather lamellar finds in his lamellar construction article here: http://members.tripod.com/DeTyre/Articles/lamellar1.html Examples are at the bottom. Not quite what you are looking for, but this is a picture of a pair of steel arms, and a pair of hardened leather arms for Tournament Combat C. 1460. As best as I can guess, the detail on the leather arms is braided leather strips, glued or sewn on.

If you own the Charles Ffoulkes armour book, there is an illumination of a 1200 European knight/man-at-arms/whatever wearing a kettle hat & a coat of scales which is (iirc) mid-calf length. Ffoulkes states that it is a coat of leather scales, but I don't know what his documentation for it is. I also...

The Angus McBride paintings in the Byzantine book I own all feature lamellar corselets which make no sense. He portrays them so that the sleeves attach to the body seamlessly, the shoulders continue right up from the body, and the aventails hang smoothly from the helmets. It sort of seems like he or...

Building a Rene rebated sword for SCA combat
http://www.princeton.edu/~ezb/rene/sword.gif I was thinking of getting an aluminum wheel pommel from Mandrake, and cutting a hole in the middle of a curved rectangular aluminum sheet for the hand guard. Anyone see a legality issue with the guard entering too far into a visor? I highly doubt this wo...

Isn't it just like a regular helm half, but rounded at the bottom so that it comes down lower into that curved shape? As for the brim, I would think it would just be a cat's-eye shape with a hole in the middle, hammered into a curve. Anyone? [This message has been edited by Brodir (edited 12-29-2001...

Claims to be a piece of real medieval maille. It is riveted, so take it from there. Kind of cool.

If that is authentic, it would be great for SCA combat, really cut down on the amount of barwork needed on a helm.

I can't offer any advice, but I'm curious; how are you planning on constructing the wooden core?
