White Mountain, excellent stuff. I've really got to get pics up of my Viking helm.

*edit* Lonely Mountain Forge makes nice stuff too, but takes a lot of shortcuts.

Sorry Mr. Hand, the sword is spoken for. If you'd like to take a shot at making one, the sword fittings were bought from Luther Anshelm http://www.anshelmarms.com/swordfittings.html If you're interested in a finished sword, Robert Coleman makes them (with matching kick-ass scabbards). http://www.nob...

If you're concerned about buying junk, I'd get it through an SCA source, rather than a hobby/craft supplier.

Armour for sale- proceeds go to charity!

I'm going to run this thread like an auction... I have a pair of CLANG! seven piece knees (knee cop, four articulations, a demi-greave, and a demi cuisse). They are very nice, very well made, but were painted primer grey instead of being buffed to a finish. I'll go out to my parents shop today, stri...

Morgan- he said if they got hit by a car or something & the sign was bent, they couldn't just bend it back, bending along the same line twice would cause the aluminum to crack.

Low-profile thrusting tips

Just wanting to start a discussion on the construction & application of these things. How do you all make yours? I was calling all over the place trying to buy aluminum for shields, and a guy I spoke too told me that they used to use 6061 T6 for street signs in the the 70's, but it was too brittle so they switched to a softer alloy.

about a year ago, somebody posted a picture of a Japanese samurai wielding a shield. Hey all, just a quick question. Would 12 gauge 6061 aluminum be good for shields? The local metal place has none, so I haven't handled any, but is willing to order it in for me at a fair price. What do you think?

I made this out of a set of Anshelm single handed sword fittings. Never been fought with, I just finished making it last weekend. It's 48" long, 34" blade. The rattan has been shaved flat on the sides, the handle has been ground & sanded down for a low-profile, period look, and covered with a nice b...
