11th century hauberk construction

If I were making a hauberk for a Norman or Saxon around the time of the Battle of Hastings, what would be preferable: A seperate coif with a small mantle, a seperate coif with a large mantle that covers the collarbones (I'm doubtful) or a coif integral to the hauberk? Thanks in advance,

I'm surprised by how many people post that they did weeks or even months of slow work before ever suiting up and doing any actual sparring. Locally, it seems like there is an effort to get new guys in kit as soon as possible. Guys will get to fight in loaner gear their first time at practice, even t...

I'm actually surprised how low these castles are going for. You can easily spend $785K on a house, I though these castles would be $10 million +. Are there laws on historical preservation, or could some yuppie buy one of these & build a giant swimming pool in the main hall, etc.?

After fighting pickups at Pillage Practice with one of those laminated falchions, I decided to make on ejust for fun. Instead of using just a regular split piece for the 'clacker' though, I used my jigsaw to cut the clacker so it tapered narrower towards the hilt, for a more accurate shape. The end ...

WTB SCA early helm

Looking for a hat for a guy I'm training, something SCA legal that would go with a generic Dark Ages kit (lamellar and round shield). Spangenhelm, conical, etc. Head is 22-23". Either used, or an armourer with a VERY short backlog (helm needed by March 15th). Willing to buy, or trade for a good set ...
