Re: latest version of starter helm

That's a great looking helm!! I am wearing one of your starter helms and love it! I get a lot of compliments on it too :) I'm also a combat archer and it provides a great field of vision! :)

as a side note... I recall seeing a discussion on the FB combat archery group about the fiberglass bows and that they are not yet approved for CA activities.

They are 'in testing' last I read....

watch for some of the decent sales they have... and by being able to buy in bulk, they sell 55 lb bags for about $260-ish (making it less than $5/lb)

Re: Fun with sheet metal

OUCH!! Glad to hear it's not that serious.... I guess, since you took pics first ;) My bf was attempting to cut rings to start chain mail and learned quickly a good way to not cut the rings... for the rest of the night he was picking little pieces of metal from his forearms, chest, belly.... and me ...

Re: Camail for helm

First, it is a great helm but once it was padded 'too tall me' I had a bit too much exposure around the side/back of the neck area (gap from top of gorget to bottom of helm). A couple guys I do armoring nights with and I talked about ideas like adding a camail but I'm really not interested in adding...

Camail for helm

I'm throwing around with a couple of ideas for adding a camail to my helm. It seems like everyone automatically brings up chainmaille, but I've seen a small handful who use leather. I'd prefer to use leather as it would go with the rest of my kit.... What I have in mind would cover about 2/3 around,...

Re: Croatian armorer on Ebay, anyone heard of him?

Good to hear that action was taken!!

It upsets me to see one seller flat out steal the images from someone so reputable.... but it really makes me leery when they won't accept Paypal!! I won't pay for an item to someone I don't know unless it's through some sort of secure medium...

Re: SCA Leather Gorget, now with demi-gauntlet.

The padding and liners are glued in at the moment. I glue the padding in first and then recoat in glue so I can stretch the leather into place. I will test them out and see how it holds up. If I have to stitch the liner in place as well than that will add to the cost of the production models. OMG!!...

Re: Opinion?? Motocross chest protector?

There are lacrosse and hockey chest guards made specifically for women. Also, sites like Title Boxing sell female chest protectors, some of which can be inserted into special sports bras. You mentioned a brigandine; what areas does the brigandine not protect? Here's an example of a lacrosse goalie ...

Opinion?? Motocross chest protector?

Another question for the collective mind.... chatting with my sister who is a motorcycle rider, but not a fighter, the topic of chest protection came up. Her suggestion was to try a motocross chest protector (roost deflector) to wear under my brig (from Ice). similar to this: http://images.motorcycl...
