I have the 15th century kettle Adam had on his site for a while. I have not got my liner and strap in it yet cause I have other work to finish up before my own gear so I have not written a review of it but now that Jeff mentioned it I guess I should. All I can say is that Adam does a damn fine job! ...

What kind of arming coat are you making? I stuff my 14th century ones with raw cotton and wool wadding like Janet Arnold mentions on her report on the Black Prince's arming coat. I only use linen flax for helm linings and arming coifs. To answer your question and place that sells supplies for people...

Frederich I find most who dislike it really dislike face thrust which are the main part of HWMA. Maybe I am just noticing it more because I am a big advocate of face thrusting and I hate sword and board because I find it to artificial for my taste. I can think of a few knights off the top of my head...

Jon In some areas in the SCA thrusting is frowned upon by the chiv and that is the biggest problem with period technique in SCA combat. I am slowly building my gear to heavy fight full time, I have the parts just need to assemble, but I am taking my time because I am afraid of picking up bad SCA hab...

For 15th century you could do a 10 layer jack over a short sleeve crotch length chain shirt for the body, an open face (bargrill) sallet for a helm, archers knees, and cloth cover the elbows and point them to the jack. It would look really cool with a proper soft kit. Another option is a brig for th...

mattmaus You are on the right track. You can do your points 2 ways: 1) Use a tool called and awl, it is a pointed metal rod basically, you use the awl to open the fibers of your material without breaking the weave. You then use a buttonhole stitch to sew open the hole. 2) Same as above but sew a met...
