Pietro I have in the past used both. Period patterns are not for beginners and often need difficult tailoring. La Fleur de Lyse patterns are really good and have great instructions for beginners. It isn't legal, it is not 15 gauge by American standard from what I understand. I sure as heck wouldn't trust it. I do like the look for the money.

They are not legal in Atlantia. Personally I find proper made finger gauntlets safer than most SCA oversized, poorly articulated, biting, clamshell gauntlets myself. I like Lutel but I just handled one of the blades from http://www.therionarms.com and I liked them better. Used a Lutel this weekend at MTT it worked vary well IMHO.
