Simple elbow in 1050 *pic*
I decided to try raising an elbow this weekend. Pathfinder and I had cut out some knees and elbows in 14 ga. 1050 steel a while ago to see how the stuff moves and reacts. I managed to dish one of the pieces a bit before I had to work on other things. But that is as far as I got. While taking a break...

If you have any farm supply stores in the area, ask them for sickle rivets. They are available in either mild or stainless. You will want a bolt cutter or something to cut the rivets to the proper length. I tried pop rivets when I first started too. Stay away from them for armor. Sasuke ------------...

The brass doesn't sit flush around the wrist. The glove tips are riveted to the gauntlet finger/thumb tips. Then a strap across the palm holds the rest in place. Articulated fingers *Pic*
Just finished a pair of articulated finger gauntlets. I usually go with a leather articulation on the fingers but thought I would try a shell articulation this time. I am happy with how the fingers turned out. I am not happy with how the brass at the wrist went though. http://home.armourarchive.org/...

I Have a slightly dulled chisel that gets clamped in a vise that I work the flutes over. If it is a small piece I just start and finish the flute over the stake. Otherwise I do it like in the essay. You can see the same basic method in my forming forming finger plates page. http://home.armourarchive...

The sabatons are for him to decide not me. I have made the type you describe before, Matt. I was already planning on adding the sweep to his greaves. The ones pictured were aluminum and couldn't get the sweep without cracking. Evil_Merlin wants mild so that makes the sweep much easier to do.

I guess it depends on how small the head of the stake is. If it can reach into the tight quarters then there should be no problems. I don't have a fluting stake (always curious what one looks like, do you have a picture?). I just use a slightly dulled chisel that I clamp in my vise. I use the same b...
