I had good luck with the stuff on brass, mild, aluminum, and stainless. For mild and stainless it took hours to get any results though. Brass and aluminum were almost instant though. I made mine by mixing roofing pitch (from a roofing company that does rubber roof installations) with plaster of paris powder and sawdust. The plaster and sawdust keep it from shattering. throwing bleach on it or soaking it in bleach does some seriously quick aging to it.
Be sure to test this on a piece of scrap to see if it gives the results you are looking for.
