They work great for fine tuning things. So once you have the pieces dished/shaped, you can put them together with the clecos. I made mine by mixing roofing pitch (from a roofing company that does rubber roof installations) with plaster of paris powder and sawdust. The plaster and sawdust keep it from shattering. Be sure to test this on a piece of scrap to see if it gives the results you are looking for.
