Another method is to use a dremel and engrave the design. That is what Vermin did to decorate these I believe:

How good of an imagination do you have? I have found good uses for many odd bits of metal that have found their way into my shop. Including excavator teeth. Some things require more grinding and reshaping than others though. You can weld one of the teeth on a stake and use it like a anvil horn. Chris

I prefer to hit the strip with a dulled chisel to add a roping look. Then I use a raising hammer that has a very rounded cylindrical type face. I think you saw it at the MAG get together. You can kind of see it at the top of this pic: m I use the hammer to pound the brass into a channel in my stump....

The lines and the shallow flutes remind me almost exactly of the lines and flutes from a bead roller. I have one of those cheap HF ones and when I tested it out on some scrap it made lines almost identical to those. And looking at the rolled edge it almost looks like there were flutes and lines all ...

They look great. Bet the new owner is very proud. The only thing I would change is the knuckle plate. The knuckles are too boxy looking to me. The lines are too parallel compared to the rest of the gauntlet. The backs should angle to the spot on the wrist like the fluting on the hand does. That woul...

I've had REALLY good results using old street signs. Never made any sheild bosses, but have made a fair amount of pauldrons that were dished/sunk pretty deeply. And I did a Milanese breastplate that had a good amount of dishing/sinking and it held up pretty well. (now STRAPS? Failures out the wazoo...

Very nice work as always. When will Randall's Helm be done? What did you end up doing with the crest? AB, I changed out all the rivets (some had worn almost completely through) and made new vambraces (he wanted them a tad shorter) for those arms. Considering they are worn 5X a week for the last how ...

Just looking at the pics from that auction they don't look horribly bad. They are too tubular in shape for my tastes. But that is pretty easy to remedy. Then I looked at the other items available. There is a "wearable" suit with the same gauntlets. m They look like hockey goalie gloves in that pic. ...

The gorget is integral with the breastplate itself. You can see inside pics showing how it is attached on my site. THere are pics of the pattern here: m The stand is made from a wooden coat stand. I just took off the hook portion and threw a 2x4 across the top to act as "shoulders". I really like us...

Actually, the off topics is still there. But to see it you need to log in first. Ditto to what Mykaru said. I made several sets for a customer. Two of the horses had almost the exact same measurements but the shape of their heads were very different. So, I had to adjust the pattern for each horse. The best thing to do is make cardboard mock ups of the armor and try them on the h...

You don't want to get me started on my opinion do you For one, I would change the corrazina. It doesn't lay properly and the fauld doesn't line up at all anywhere.
