Ditto! It was great to finally meet a bunch of you guys. The amount of knowledge available was a bit overwhelming at times. It was hard to decide which conversation/demonstration to listen to. And why is it that I always think of great questions to ask on the drive HOME... Big thank you to all to he...

Definitely worth the drive and I hope to attend the next one.

Clamp a piece of barstock/ handle for ratchet/or anything else similar into a vise to use as a solid backing for setting the rivet. Otherwise attach the glove below the enclosed part. Once your thumb is inside it probably won't be able to slip out. Hard to say for sure though without seeing pics. Ch...

The suit I made here is almost entirely 20 ga. stainless: m As long as you are shaping the metal and not just forming it into cones or flat shapes it holds up very well as costume and minimal combat armor. Concerning the ThorZ pattern: That is a trick question. What is the proper scale for you is no...

The spaulder pattern by Sinric is a great beginner project. It has dishing and leather articulation. They are pretty straight forward in their assembly and teach many basic skills.
After those pretty much any of Sinric's patterns are gold for beginners.
That is my opinion anyway :)

John: Yeah, there are some very nice photos there :)

Azommin: Come down anytime. Or maybe if Darivs has a hammer in we can meet up there.

To repeat a few email questions on here as well: Yes, it is stainless and mostly 20 ga. to keep the weight down.

Thanks,

It makes me sound like and idiot but "I like books with lots of pretty pictures."

I end up not reading a lot of the books I have since much of the information is pretty dated and in some cases just plain wrong. Or they are in a language I can't read either :)

The ThorZ pattern is a great first finger gauntlet pattern. I would get rid of the leather articulated wrist though. Just do a riveted articulation type wrist instead. You will obviously have to modify the pattern a bit to accomplish that though. I also agree that you should make both at the same ti...

If you have made flutes, then think about how you would make these. Very similar process. Get out some scrap and experiment.
