Sounds like he doesn't like kites. One, it is too small for him. I like mine eye to knee and shoulder width. My current shields are strapped vertically. Previously, I'd strapped horizontally. I've seen kites the size in that video used successfully center gripped. Check various illuminations and tap...

Howdy, Neighbor! I imagine it is similar to a workout with a weighted conditioning vest. I don't recall reading any studies on such, but various people have developed their own training regiments to help their SCA fighting. A search of the forum on "exercise" should show the relevant topics.

I have a pair of Andy Ward Stainless Gauntlets. Bomb proof! Just have to strap them right and alittle padding for the back of the hand.
Bring the gauntlets to practice and have someone help you out in figuring out how to strap them.

I made them myself. I got the Ti from TitaniumJoe.com about 5 or so years ago. The price is about double now.
I got the hilt from Truehearth Armoury. There are a few here on the Archive that make something similar.

Coming from the other end of the 12th century. Warriors wore nothing over mail the vast majority of the century. The beginning of heraldry starts to be seen just after 1180 and only amongst the most powerful of nobles.

Here is my mace. Originally it had a Kong Dog Toy head coated in bed liner. This Pennsic I has a friend pick up a potato sorter head. The new head is about three times heavier than the old so the dynamics are abit different.

Side by side? really! Who though that would be a good idea.
Wait, how were they set up? I assume some sizable no fight zone. It would be hard to orchestrate without having alot of fighting right off the rez points.
