Is the flanged edge bent over 90 degrees? As the top that is fitting into it is acually a bit of a cone segment. Pictures might be helpful if you can post them. I have one in mild. Once I got the top on the crown I had to hammer down the flange alittle to meet the crown. I worked out fine as I rivit...

When I started fighing, it was loaner armour and a large loaner barn door shield. Once in my own gear, it's been kite shield only. My first kite was literally patterned off the shield of the guy who taught me to fight. Made from an old street sign. I think that one is 44" x 20". My next sh...

There is an effigy from 1250 shown in the book "Leather and the Warrior", which shows a leather currie buckled twice on each side worn over maile and under a surcoat.

Intact runestone found in church car park

m A rock previously used to demarcate a parking area outside a church north of Stockholm is in fact a 1,000-year-old runestone, it has been discovered. The runestone first surfaced in the autumn when church authorities in Vallentuna excavated an area around the church in order to lay new cables. But...

Don't forget the bambakion. Another quilted cotton garment.

You'd likely be wearing some kind of quilted garment for padding under your armour. What is your armour?

Not hard to put together with a few tools. I highly recomend the option to have the top pre-made.

Your kidding right?

I have something similar made by Truehearth. All-in-one hilt and pommel in 14 guage. It's rock solid. Unless Cian can't weld worth a crap, his should be just as good.

Cian, I wish you had this idea two years ago.

Glad it's just not me. I know I've seen a very similar helm to the Roman. Could just be a common constructon style. Too bad it isn't cheaper. Much cheaper. That other one. Well at least the face is only held on by two large rivits. I think they could both be functional and legal with a little work.
