The conceptual issue is that the attack orientation of the spear takes away virtually all defense and vice versa.
That and the fact that SCA rules reduce the advantages that the one handed spear would have means that this style would be great for fun, but less for being competitive

Helm, plackard and gauntlet kit FS -price drop-
Lowered the prices on the bascinet and plackard. I will take offers on all the items and will be happy to try to arrange pennsic pickup First up is a 14 gauge mild back high point bascinet. No faceplace. Some surface rust. 27.5 outer diameter. It is about 1-2" wider side to side then back to front. ...

I only got the plates and patterns for the material.
I am very happy with what I got.
This is also my first completed armoring projects, I just finished putting the rivets (cut down roofing nails) in today.

Re: 14th Century German imported Naganata?
I thought the same thing. What gives me a bit of pause is the ratio of handle to blade. On the fauchards we see a large blade with a tiny handle, in the German manuscript a bit more handle then blade. The other detail is the handle; to me those diamonds look like the handle wrapping on a Katana (alt...

14th Century German imported Naganata?
So someone posted this manuscript as a basis for a pole-arm they made, when I looked at http://manuscriptminiatures.com/4869/13233/ i thought that polearm looked like a naganata. It is in the hands of the last blue knight on the right. I could be totally off, but between the profile of the blade (wh...

Checking Interest on a Mass spring steel buckler Order
Hey all,
I am looking into setting up a large order of 15 inch, fluted, 18 gauge, Spring steel with a belt clip. I would need at least 25 orders to make it work. The price would be in the ballpark of 100 bucks including shipping to CONUS.
Would folks be seriously interested?
