Unless there's some sort of safe manner to discard your bow, though, just drawing your seax and going at it is just plain stupid, and unsafe. A polearm is one thing, it's not under tension and if it breaks, well, it's replaceable. A bow is an expensive piece of equipment that is under a high degree...
