(motor shaft speed x drive pulley)/driven pulley diameter=speed of driven pulley.

For example on a 1725 rpm motor, a 1½" drive pulley on a 15" driven pulley will give you 173 rpms.

This help?

Is it a 'soft start' motor? Rheostats don't work well on them.

RJLeahy is my reccomendation. McMaster-Carr was (last I checked) a fair bit higher, but that was quite a few months ago.
