Not to dis on Revival at all, but you can make a supertunic very easily. 99 bucks for a silk one is not an unreasonable price, but if you are looking for a less ostentatatious presentation, linen would work fine. It depends on if you can sew or know someone who can.

Were bascinets ever blued, blackend or painted? I know that great helms, chapel de fer and sallets were painted, russeted blackend and such, but I don't know if bascinets ever were.
Thanks!

Looking for pics of the Hans Haberkorn effigy

Hi all, Osprey's German Medieval Armies cites the Hans Haberkorn effigy from the Mainz cathedral as a source for an illustration of a German knight wearing a scale skirt and breastplate instead of a fauld and breastplate. The book claims this was somewhat common in the eastern Empire. I googled and ...

You've got nothing to be ashamed of! Anything you do to improve your kit now will be to move it from looks authentic to the average SCAdian to being really authentic. Using linen and wool, using copies of extant examples for belt fittings, that sort of thing.

The reason I want to make the behkter go over the maille is I only have one maille shirt and I want to keep it intact for doing other impressions, like a pancerni cossack or a crusader serjeant. Ideas on how to make a behkter inspired armour?

I've attached a pic of my inspiration for an Eastern European flavoured armour. I say inspired because I don't want to make it so that it is attached/part of the maille shirt. I do want to make so I can wear it over a maille shirt for demos and high class tourneys. I suppose the body will maybe use ...
