That is a great looking crew, and the banners add a lot to the atsmophere. I gotta get me one. Not that we need more rules... but it would be kind of cool if we established a set of sumptuary "suggestions" that would guide how people displayed thier banner based on rank. Certian size shape reguatio...

My shield is a 34 inch long oval, non center grip. I rather like it. Plus it is more to my personal then a heater. (I am going to eventually switch to the scutum style for my warshield though)

ok- good point. I should have stated that it is not as prominant in later period texts. I do think there is something there though, with the style of hilt affecting they style used. If its a simple cross, arming style hilt, then its more I.33-ish. If there is more of a complex hilt present, then yo...

I do disagree that the techniques are the same. PRINCIPLES are same in all combat. Principles of distance and timing, etc. But the method of covering your hand with your buckler and the 'stabknocks' present in every aspect of I.33 combat is not present in 16th century sword and buckler styles. This...

So, If I understand everyone correctly, the belt itself followed the curve of the breastplate. The buckle David showed would be at the point of the breastplate. On the sword side they used attachements or hangers that actually connected to the scabbard itself. Do I have it right? Since the peascod ...

The Cut & Thrust rule set is for using a sword to both cut (forward percussive styles and back slicing styles) and to thrust with the point. There is nothing in there that says it must be a rapier blade. Nor that it must be only 16th century style of combat. This is why I differentiate cut&thrust wo...

thanks for clearing up my misconceptions. I would be terrified to see how awful the fighting would be if "flexible" two handers were used. Im sure it would just turn into whippy sword tag as any committed two handed strike would certainly be deemed "too hard". But then again...the regular rapier is...
