Kingdom Crusades, whose going?
So who is going to Crusades? It sounds like it should be a lot of fun. There are going to be at least 8 battles it seems. Three open field battles (non resurrection) Three bridge battles (non resurrection) One Champions singles (8 champions, 4 belts 4 un-belts) and one Broken field battle (Resurrect...

Re: Stick
At least sca swords look like something resembling a sword. Um, no they look like a batton or a culdgel. Yes most definetly. I cannot think of this as a sword in any way shape or form: All it takes is a little effort to make a polearm l...

Re: Stick
So is a Sword At least sca swords look like something resembling a sword. Be it a basket hilt or a crossguard. And if you get hit with one from the side you don't have to wonder if it was the head or the haft. I have handled some rattan swords that are balanced very much like a sword should be bala...

Re: Perhaps it is one of these.
Perhaps it is a Glaive. A glave is more than just a stick Now, now James, not every kingdom realizes that "pole" in polearm refers to the head of the weapon and not the staff. Common mistake. Unfortunately we just lack the willing suspension of disbelief to look at a quarterstaff and think of it as...

I agree with Cet. The focuse is moving a bit away from the tournament itself and focusing on the "pretty things" outside of the main spectacle. Concerning the overall look of the tournament field setting: This is based on several styles and rules of tournaments and official duels from the 14th and 1...

Now that, I could really get behind.
Until then I guess we are just going to have to have Tournament of Love and Beauty II, based on Rene of anjou.

I will be helping out with the Emprise. As a herald, marshal, attendent, whatever. Yeah, you do a great job at public announcement. It would be a loss if you weren't fighting though. You are also good at knowing what was done at tourneys. I have a question for you on that: would there be other cont...

Does anybody know the rules for WMA-type activites happening at Pennsic? They follow the same rules that the SCA has for WMA teaching and demos. No full contact non choreographed activities. Only one on one demo or learning, no multiple attacks from different people. (Bloody shame when you get to s...

My mantra for Cut and Thrust is control. Control of ones self, control of ones sword, and control of ones opponent. A C&T practioner should know what he can and cannot do, not only with in the rules of the list but also within the bounds of safety. They should have control of their blade to not hit ...

Hmmm, since I am technically (and in only a small way) part of the chain of command, I usually look at it this way: King, Prince/Kingdom Warlord, Northern Regional Commander. As a northern baronial warlord that is my primary command line. The second line of command is: Central and Southern Commander...
