Kingdom Crusades
This past Saturday Atlantia and East Kingdom met near Darlington MD for the annual Kingdom Crusades. I enjoyed myself. I enjoyed the fighting. Regardless of who was winning. I enjoyed seeing old friends. Some I had not seen in a long while. I enjoyed making new ones. And hope to see more of them. I ...

Not really a nitpick, but more of a warning against inaccurate information, a lot of the "historicial" information on this site is false: m Most of that webpage sounds like a Peter Woodward "Conquest" episode, or a DnD book, specifically; Prizefights, assassins, weapons of war (especially not knowin...

If you feel that your persona is Robert the Bastard, go with it. Based on what your describing your persona to be; a cunning and pragmatic freelancer then your better bet and paycheck would be Sir John Hawkwood: m Here is a short list from my library that I would suggest: English Longbowmen 1330-151...

Well a few things I would recomend; Drop the "dad was a crusader of noble birth, raped mom, etc" Point of fact there were many "noble bastards" in history. William I of England comes to mind. As for the sell sword, well you do not need to be low ranking gutter rat for the either. If you wish to choo...

Two things come to mind. First, even though some (and to a degree I agree with it) like to think that Pennsic is just a series of Melee tournaments. I prefer the thought of full blown war scenarios and I have always like the idea of the random factor of flying weapons (ballistas, arrows, trebs, etc)...

How close is your armour to they way you want it?
This week I will be working on my armour (again). I have some cleaning and repair work to do after last week's war. But even with planned changes and repair I feel that my armour is close to 85% of what I want for it to look and feel like for my persona. So after seeing some truly wicked looking kit...

These are the stick trebuchets: m m The next day, I learned that three stick trebuchets from the Barony of Ponte Alto was responsible for roughly 90% of the kills of the Midland forces reserves of the central bridge. Huh? "three stick trebuchets"? Is that "three trebuchets, of the stick variety" , o...

Yeah I was bummed about that too. Our Barony was breaking camp on Friday and if I attended the tourney I would not have gotten home until Sat. Oh well there is always next year. Don't know. It got postponed from Thurs. to Fri. because of the weather, and that rescheduling meant I didn't go and watch.

They are trebuchets of the stick variety. They are essentially big slings. I cannot really desribe them well, but if I find a pic I will post it. I am kind of torn on this one. It does fall outside the scope of the Medieval and Renaissance ideal of the SCA. It usually brings up such thorny issues as chivalry before the era of knights. But if it is done really well I love it. I have seen some really good Spartan and Hopolite kits, and even a f...

During the third bridge battle, I was helping sheild Her Majesty Padraigin, when she saw the King of Drachenwald about 10 paces behind his line on the bridge next to us. She then took out his leg with a single crossbow bolt, and teased Count Havordth (from Atlantia currently in Drachenwald), that sh...

New BBC sword show
This seems to have just premiered in England in July so hopefully it will hit the states sooner or later.
