Happy Dance!!!
Asbjorn,
A great many thanks for being able to move the tourney to Friday
Of course this means the couple of armour projects I put off are now going to have to go onto the front burner again.

Since he is holding the rounded tip executioner style sword, my guess is that it is not an arming cote, but a pourpoint for when the blood splatters.

Its a demo, hard to tell if it is slowed down for the audience or if it was slowed down in video editing.
They appear to be studying Joachim Meyer. What I don't understand is why they start in "Ochs" out of distance, and then transition to a cut before crossing swords.

Off the top of my head I would lay odds on the Templars.
For the charge as well as the armour, and possibly the archery as well.
However I would have to look up the armour and tactics employed by both types. Fortunately I have a large library.

It is not that head shots are legal or not, it is just an added safety issue for just in cases, since the head is not intentionaly targeted. Now then given the overall strength, cost and form of the Deepeeka helms, with a proper liner they would hold up ok with blunt steel. Poleaxes on the other han...

The full blown concept of knighthood, which we intrepret to mean today, was still fairly abstract in the mid 1100's. Much as I would like to see it, the SCA does have to account for the "Most Common Idiot Factor". Just because I am safe with a steel sword, and Flonzy is safe with a steel sword does not mean that some other guy/gal is. This is one of the reasons that we do not have grappling either. If you allow it...
