Generally a sallet might have a head roll that would have plumes attached to its front, The other was a ball that attached to the top of the sallet that also would have a plume attached to it. But for sallets you would not have a heraldic crest. I'll find some pics ------------------ "As long as the...

Florentine is a person or object from Florence, it is also a chicken stuffed with spinach. A case of rapiers refers to two rapiers that are carried together for the specific purpose of a duel, as they will be of the same dimensions and equal for both fighters. Same thing for dueling pistols. I am no...

Heraldry tips (SCA)
There have been a few questions regarding heraldry and the SCA on the board lately, so I thought I would post a few do's, don'ts and what to expect. You do not need an award of arms, grant of arms, or peerage in order to register or display your heraldry in the SCA. The SCA does not police heraldry ...

William, You may have a problem with using your family heraldry, "may" being the operative word. One of the rules of SCA heraldry is that you are not allowed to use pre-existing heraldry, as it it considered trademarked so to speak. That being said, if your family COA is rather obscure it may get by...
