That does seem odd to go through that much minute detail and then specifically goof off on a standout item like buttons. When I ask a question about clothing, armour or what have you, and the answer is "No, you need to do it this way." I usually get frustrated. Not at who tells me, unless the answer...

The various LH vs SCA, Authenticity Nazi vs Farb, and the WMA vs sport fighting flame wars that not only prevail here but in general conversations amongst the SCA and other Medieval folks gets pretty wearing after awhile. Well while I was just skimming through the SCA.org site I found a link to this...

Well just to add a little fuel to this fire. When handgonnes were first introduced into Europeon warfare, they did not just fire little pellets o' lead. They also fired arrows. Now granted this is a more later period common thing, ie pre 16th century but it was still done. So if such a weapon were a...

So long as the armour does not look like the michelin man or mad max, I really don't have a problem. Oh joy second insipid arguement of the day! More period versus FARBI! SCA is not a focused Living History Group, you have to allow for two things: 1.) That some 1 thousand years of history is a lot to cover for a group so not everyone likes being 15th cent. Burgundian. Some like being 9th century Ga...

Geez not this insipid arguement again. As is, there is a hell of a lot that is not known about sword and shield combat techniques used in the middle ages. What is known is gleened from small sections of translated manuscripts and the odd illum...

My vote: No acted out wounds or kneeling. I hate it, in both rapier and heavy. Lower leg shots. Short sword only, not great sword, spear or pole arm. Also if you remove the kneeling then you remove most of the daisy cutter shots anyways. Now then in rapier it is full target, but those that have trie...

I did not find any restrictions on the polearms in Atlantia other than they have to be less then 7 1/2 feet, which is fine by me.

Poleaxe construction (SCA)

Does anyone have any recomendations on the construction of a Poleaxe for Atlantia. I have an axe head from By My Hand Designs, that I picked up at Pennsic, and I want to put one together pretty soon.
Thanks

At the woods battle there was a fighter from the Baronny of Storvik, in Atlantia, who had a camera attached to his helm. As I recall it was a video camera, not a digital still camera.
