I'll do my best not to over think these! Hahaha laying out the dimensional properties that way certainly helped me wrap my head around the basic concepts.

Start with a longer piece of nail shank and grind it down during the fitting. Shouldn't protrude more than 4mm when holding the fall, likely even less. That's exactly what I was hoping to find Mac. You mentioned a short spring being a problem. It's hard for me to judge the distance without some reference. Any recommendations on length of spring for longer life?

Falling buffe
Hello Archivers I'm working on a helm with a falling buffe and having some trouble figuring the spring pins that hold it in the up position. Positioning the pin protrusion is no problem, but where should the other end be grounded? I haven't been able to find any interior photos that show this featur...
