I bought a crapload of buckles from Siegel's of CA (www.siegelofca.com) for dirt cheap. I think my 1" brass buckles were on sale for like .40 each.

I would recommend getting a rawhide mallet for dishing something as light as 18ga and 20ga. Perhaps some files to deburr the edges of the steel too. Congrats - you're on your way to platedom http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif I guess you won't be needing that winding and cutting rig, now wil...

Its a rather broad request, but I'll see if I can help somewhat. Get yourself a pattern from the pattern archive here. Blow the image up so that it sits entirely on an 8x11 sheet of paper - no margins. Then make the piece using that pattern and see which one of your friends it fits. If it fits your ...

Cool. I was thinking $20 for the 5/16" too. I can scale my prices down accordingly off of that. Probably sell the 1/2" stuff for $15 and then have the 3/8" and 7/16" fall somewhere in between there. Maybe even offer a 2 foot square patch or something. The best part of it is that I can let my colleag...

started one of these back when I was still making butted maille (Loooong time), and the key was to start with a large crown ring. This is due to the incredible density of the weave. I used a 14g crown ring at roughly twice the diameter of the links, and it seemed to work well. Hope that helps. Yeah...

Chainmaille Sheets? Interested?

I've toyed with the idea before but never thought it through - would there be any interest in buying square feet of chainmaille? I mean, it would make putting together a hauberk easy and rewarding for the people like me who like to get results quickly. I'm thinking about selling a 12x12 inch square ...

I've used Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel to keep the rust off of my armour. Of course, care, should be taken to wipe off any finger prints you put on the steel anyways. 10ga mild steel maille - have I lost my mind?

I was thinking about doing various maille projects with it just for fun. Jumbo riveted ma...
