Stephan, money order is fine. You can send it to 709 Middlefield Road, Salinas, CA 93906 or via paypal to kayofdarkmoor@aol.com Brodir, yes, it's considerably cheaper. The one large tank by itself is $21.85 to ship but three larges being sent in the same package only cost $41.45. That drops the ship...

Dangit to hell and back. I broke my rattan stick yesterday! Maybe I can borrow someone's stick tonight at Mission Practice if they have an extra. My dad cleaned out the shop and found two old helmet tops that were completely unusable, so since he knows how much fun I have trying to dent stuff, he le...

Welcome! I see that you live near Sacramento. I expect to see you down in Salinas in September for the Hammer-In! http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif I agree with Bexter12 - Brian Price's book is outstanding, and as close as a textbook for armouring as there is. For shaping steel, I usually j...

Also, I should mention that a lot of these tanks have letters stamped into the bottom of them. These can be easily filled by running a bead with your welder in the letters and grinding them smooth.

Yes, my dad got the tanks on Friday and he spent the weekend cutting most of them. He was able to pick up 17 larges and 11 or 12 (I forgot which) smalls. There weren't any mediums . If you ordered a medium and still want a tank and don't mind paying $5 more (plus the increased shipping cost) for a l...

Anyone need more dishing bowls?

Based on the very positive response we got last time, we're going out again later this week to pick up some more oxygen tanks to turn into dishing bowls. There are normally three different sizes out there, but each tank is cut to about 4" high to reduce the cost of shipping, which can get more expen...

Thanks Matt. Considering the work you've been putting out recently, that's quite a compliment http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif I turned the edge before shaping the vambrace because I thought it would be easier than trying to shape the vambrace and then roll the edge. What I didn't realize ...

Getting authorized

Got some big steps ahead of me here. My pre-registration for Pennsic just went through and I'll be getting my plane ticket at the end of June. Now, I just have to get authorized. I've got the basic rules and regulations down and have played a couple times using SCA rules. I have a small list of thin...

Before our tournaments, we almost always have spicy and mild sausages, sweet pastries, lots of hawaiian bread rounds, and various drinks. Thanks all. Matt, the best way I can described the shape of the curled edge of the vambrace is that of a teardrop shape laying on its side. Sort of rolled, sort of hemmed. Since this was my first time rolling an edge, I don't think it came out too bad. I would like to spend more time learning to com...

If I'm not mistaken, the Romans used what some folks call scale maille. It was basically scales that were attached to the rings in a maille shirt, sometimes with links as small as 1/8" ID.

Where do you all get your buckles from? I picked up a good amount from Siegel of California about a year ago and we're just about out.
