Warning - non-SCA response below: Generally, there are two ways to solve this issue and be assured it will never happen again. The first is to go through all the diplomatic channels. The second is to show him what excessive force really is. ------------------ Salinas Swordsman Darkmoor Armoury

Depending on how much time you have, I'd suggest laying down a few basic weaves like Euro 4-1, 6-1, box, and maybe birdcage and spiral. Perhaps even some Jap 4-1. Make sure to have plenty of rings and pliers on hand, even if you've asked people to bring their own. Make sure you have your students st...

I'd say 8oz for the shield edging, 8 or 10oz for straps, 5 oz for coat of plates, and 8 for turnshoes with really thick (15oz) sole.

Very nice stuff, especially that big guy with the fluted and embossed plate with maille. I doubt that they are fighting full speed though. Notice any dents, scratches, or dings? I'm guessing it's choreographed, but it's by far the best looking choreographed group I've seen! [This message has been ed...

If the Archive buys one of these helmets and sends it to me, I will thoroughly test it with every weapon I can find and post a big fat photo essay here. If it breaks easily, having it's battle-readiness posted here may help deter people from buying it and spending their money on quality items. This ...

I don't have a disdain for the SCA, I just prefer to not be bound by their rules and standards. The only exceptions would be the rare fighter practice or Pennsic. I dislike SCA armour requirements and the conventions of combat. I feel responsible enough to armour myself according to what I deem is n...

More trolling - premade shields?

Not shield blanks, but an entire shield ready to use right out of the box. This isn't something that we'd be able to do anytime soon, but I wondered if anyone would buy new premade shields. Rounds, squares, heaters, kites, all with edging, shield bosses (where applicable), straps, padding, and shiel...

I don't think an extra board is necessary. Those of us in groups *other* than the SCA (yes, we do exist) can just as easily skip over threads about SCA related topics. A lot of times, I'll still read the threads that involve SCA rules or combat just because I'm trying to learn more about...well...ev...

Shipping one large tank bottom that is roughly 10" tall is going to cost around $30 or just under. That's because the bugger weighs 33lbs! We can cut these things down to whatever height you like, and a 10lb tank should only cost around $16 to ship.

Trolling for future interest in dishing tanks

Please see my other thread in this room about the tanks we recently had. From what my dad has told me, there are plenty more of all three sizes to be had so we wanted to see if there was any interest in us picking up some more of them for you folks.

You guys are lucky - if we lose our weapon we have three choices: (1) fight to take your opponent's weapon away, (2) scurry over and try to get your weapon back or (3) submit. A good fighter in our group will let you get your weapon back. A chivalrous one will pick it up for you. Of course, if you'v...

"H" has been taken and it's owner is going to pick a large tank too. I am not sure how deep we could get them since we've never done it before but it would be an interesting experiment to try. The large tanks are approximately 3/16" thick in the walls, so I think they could afford to be made deeper ...

I would think that cutting your own patterns in your own shop would be quicker. That way you don't have to wait two weeks for a cutout pattern that takes 20 minutes to cut.

Just my thoughts.

The tanks left are A, F, G, & H. The large tanks weigh approx. 33lbs, the mediums are 11lbs and the smalls are 3lbs. I don't know how deep we could find the bowls in the future, but there's nothing really stopping us from making the bowls deeper by heating them up and beating a large steel ball into...
