Guys, I wasn't talking about using that stuff for combat - I was just referring to the weight difference. It really doesn't matter what gauge and ID you're using and I shouldn't have even mentioned it... The fact is that riveted maille rings are heavier compared to butted rings of the same gauge and...

What gets you pumped before a fight?

I know Templar Bob listens to Static-X to get pumped up before a fight (they *rocked* live, btw), but what do some of you others do to get mentally prepared to fight? I used to listen to music like Static X before fights but now I don't use that for my main inspiration because as soon as I get ready...

I also use rawhide mallets for just about every dishing project. I thought I'd be a big tough guy and try to dish out a 1/4" plate shield boss cold. Yeah, that worked out really well. I spent about 10 minutes whacking the hell out of the plate with a 3lb sledge and then decided to get the torch out....

Butted maille almost always weighs more than riveted maille of the same ring I.D. I don't know, Steve. Take 18ga 3/8" rings for example. Otto's Armoury (AR)

I just got my baskethilt and shield basket from Otto today and I am very pleased. This was in a trade for a stainless steel aventail I made a short time ago and had just laying around. We began correspondence about this trade on 2/26 and talked back and forth for a couple days. He said the baskets w...

Since he says it has lost its glossy shine, I'm guessing it's galvanized steel.

I have heard of people letting their galvanized chainmaille sit in lemon juice to darken it.

Although I have never done this, I've thought about this a little bit. Perhaps if you had a bolt that was slightly bigger around than one of the finger holes, you could sort of jam it into the hole a little bit and then screw the bolt into the hole. I would think that the (for lack of a better word)...

No, I don't mean like doing the dishes or walking the dog. If you had, or currently have, an apprentice, what would their duties be?
