Decided to edit my post after rereading the question. We practice the first method. Once a point is called by one of the four judges, the fighters disengage and square off again. The judges (and everybody else, for that matter) keep track of the points in their head and since we only go to three, it...

I don't think that is Ugo's work - it's made by Indians and sold by the ton by Sterling Swords. Besides, Ugo would have embossed and repoussed the entire Bayeaux Tapestry on the breastplate http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif And you gotta ask yourself, WWUD? http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/...

Both of my hands have scars all over them from not having gauntlets or a shield basket. Fortunately, I've never broken any bones yet. I've had a bruise on the side of my knee that was like I had a third kneecap. Had welts raised on me that I could feel swelling as the fight progressed. So far had tw...

How do I dye leather?
I may need to dye some leather in the near future and wanted to know how its done. I'm sure there are resources out on the net, but if you have any good ones in mind please post them. Thanks. ------------------ Salinas Swordsman Darkmoor Armoury M.A.I.L. - All your Chainmaille questions answered here

Any interest in pre made riveted maille rings?
I thought about adding this to the "catalog" but wasn't sure if it would be a waste of time or not. I was thinking about making 17 gauge rings that have been normalized, flattened, and punched available for sale through the Armoury.

Looking for oxblood colored latigo leather
Does anyone have some leather like this that they want to sell? I don't need an entire side of this stuff, but I would gladly buy it if the price was right. Looking for something 7 ounces or thicker. Latigo is preferred. I've tried Siegel of CA, Brettun's Leather, Texas Wholesale Leather, and Tandy ...

I don't have a B-1, but I have the Harbor Freight knockoff, and a B-2. I don't really notice that big of a difference in the way they cut curves since I can cut a pretty tight angle by just sticking the piece I'm cutting at the back of the blades, applying a little pressure to the handle, and pivoti...

Buy it. We had almost that very shear and abused it for over 10 years. Ours was rated for 16ga mild and 18ga stainless, but we frequently cut 14ga mild and all kinds of other strange metals. It died a few months ago and we finally broke down and bought a B-2. But I still would like to have one of th...

I can't take credit for the ingenuity of this device - it was heavily inspired by Steve Belden (Hammered Wombat)'s fluting thingy. Yes, I do think the C structure is too tall and I would shorten it's height about six inches and shorten its width by about a foot. However, I've never used it to flute ...

It usually only takes one person to work the contraption, but sometimes a second person does help. What I do is make sure my chisel is lined up where it needs to be on the armour, steady it with my left hand in the middle of the chisel, and pound with a hammer in my right hand. I especially like it ...

That V groove is actually too deep for anything other than big gothic looking flutes. The barstock there is 1/2", and I'm looking at getting some 1/4" barstock and making a similar female end so I can create sharper flutes. Of course, I'd have to grind down the face of the chisel to fit between the ...
