DAMN! That's B.S. It used to be that 400 people can (and did) visit a single page of my site without any problem. Ever since those mookies at Geocities found a way to charge people for better service, they've been slowly limiting what we can do with our free services. I'm thinking about paying the $...

Sasha's right. Nibblers are Satan in a Power Tool. If you like the idea behind a nibbler but don't want to be a conspirator to the Evil One, then look for a right angle electric shear. Think Beverly Shear, but in the palm of your hand Image

Working stainless hot?

So, how does working stainless hot differ from working mild steel hot? Do you have to heat the piece longer to achieve that nice orange glow since it is stainless? Does heating it up permanently discolor the steel? Can you harden stainless sufficiently by heating it up and quenching it? If so, how m...

Are you going to be fighting in any specific in this armour? If you're in the SCA, I'd recommend 16ga mild steel (or galvanized). If you've got nails or rivets that can be pushed through the leather, go through the leather from the outside and rivet them to the inside of the steel plates. Good luck....

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but Home Depot sells 16.5 gauge annealed wire for rebar. Other than that, I've never seen 17 gauge mild steel wire.

Scroll down about halfway through the page until you find "Birdcage" which is another name for the Byzantine weave. Gethin, if you like, I can teach you this weave at the Hammer-In this weekend. It's quite simple.

The dawn broke over the mist-covered hills of Pennsic XXXI but all was not well. As the skinny fighters all huddled together to keep warm, there was a deep rumbling off in the distance. Sounds like you have a B2. If memory serves me correctly, that is a sticker, not a metal plate, that shows the model number and all that jazz.

I've never heard of other throatless shear knockoffs besides the Harbor Freight version. My shear is a model B-2A.

? on Durability of Riveted Maille

I had a petty question that I wanted to bring up about the process of making riveted maille and the strength of it. When annealing the rings, you are softening them to be able to punch through them. What I was curious about is if there would be a potential for an arrow shot from a longbow (~100+ lbs...

I think this has been discussed in the past, but how well do english wheels work for making armour? Do they thin out the metal? Has anyone worked with one of these?
