Sorry, another point. The devices are about 23" by 22" in size (I have a table that size already made so I made the form to fit the table).

So its about twice as wide as a normal Pexto STake plate IIRC.

While not sure on the number of holes, I do know how many people work in the shop Image and haveing multiple work stations on the one plate will really hep throughput in the shop.

Query about tool pricing, looking for input

Got one of the tech's up here @ my work to layout a stake plate for me in a cad program. It has 25 holes, 5 each of 1/2" square, 3/4" square, 1" square, 1.25" square, and .5" radius circle. There's a machine shop here that can make one for me out of 1/4" plate for $125 + $25 setup fee. I can also ge...

Would look nice, but don't do it. As someone who's just completed a $40 experiment, the skins is waaaaaay to necessary for usable polearms. I made a pair of matched polearms that I'd shaved down to octagonal profiles, and they lost almost all of their oomph. Looked amazingly good, but no hitting pow...

A couple of comments. Duke Logan. You actually showed your philosophy well in the video. I remember 7 hits to the leg armour first, each one of increasing force. Then the hits to the hip (unarmoured) and then the head I think. It was obvious you were trying to get him to call the shot, not break him...

PoD, Karl's Got the key. What I did on mine was wire-wrapped the hilt just below the cross guard, essentially making the effective diameter of the handle bigger than the hole in the crossguard. I use epoxy, friction, or other glues to keep it from rotating, but friction mostly. As for the pommel, di...

If you're not looking for new, I've got a used spun top (Old Inman helm, ask some old timer what that means) that I'm willing to part with for $40. It needs to have one weld fixed, but any competent welder can do that for you for a couple of bucks.

You basically end up paying around $5 a square foot. Sounds like a lot, until you realize that the metal for a pair of gaunts only uses $15 of metal.

I did some empirical tests with 1018 mild steel, and to me, it did seem like it was a bit harder aftern hardening. Not to the extent of the 4130 or the 1050+ types, where you could basically cut the thickness in half for the same strength. I'd estimate you could drop one gauge of thickness safely wi...
