Request for Pictures of stake plate stuff
Well, the one thing that my shop is REALLY lacking (besides good tools, I have plenty of tools, just not good tools) is a good stake plate for mounting different sized stakes too. I'm gonna have some slack time after christmas, and will be making a stake plate. So what I'm asking for is pictures of ...

My advice: Make it as tall as you are. Taller and its gets unweildy with a short handle. Shorter and you give up a lot of reach. What magnus said about balance is virtually THE most important thing about the weapon. Ideally a balance point of where you hand is my idea of the perfect great sword, but...

I think a lot of it depends upon how much you fight. When fighting three times a week (something I'm not doing now but will be doing soon) stuff breaks down REAL quick. Sometimes in our eagerness to continue fighting we fight when our armour is not ready. Sometimes, a peice of your armour breaks and...

Magnus (and T-Bob) sorry for the delay. I got the pattern checked last night, and will be finishing up the pattern tomorrow night. In the interim I'll give you these pictures of the subject wearing the pattern for a test fit... http://cchipman.homeip.net/images/owen_helmet/front.jpg http://cchipman....

A lot depends on what the rules for you group is. Unpadded glaives allowed? Only padded? Anywayw, the way I make mine. 1) Select fairly straight peice. Do not overly worry about exactly straight. Cut to 7'2" in length. I prefer sticks that are between 1.5" and 1.75" in diameter. 2) Shave sides down ...

I will join in on the marshallate bashing http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif Its fun. My problems with many marshals are: #1) Lack of knowledge of CURRENT rules. Here's weights... I just layed out another pair of gauntlets, and they came in at around 2.25 square feet. I'm using .032 4130 (gonna harden them) and they are gonna weigh around 2.93 lbs. Thats 2.25 sq feet * 144 sq in/sq feet * .032 inches * .283 lbs/cu inches = 2.93 lbs Now, theres' gonna be a lo...
