Chapel de Fer Progress

Well, we had not done a lot on it since my armour was stolen, and I was trying to make new armour to replace the stuff that was stolen. My armour was returned, and I've bought a new digital camera, so now we've progressing again. New pictures can be found here: http://cchipman.homeip.net/images/Chap...

I'll post the pattern once I get it finished.

The answer is : It depends. For example, on the cuffs of vambraces, I tend to roll the edges before curving the vambrace, simply because it will be difficult to work inside of the curve after the metal is shaped. On other peices, for example, gorgets, I tend to shape the peice and then roll the edge...

Usually most people recommend buying books on making knives, as there tends to be a lot of heat treating and tempering with them. http://www.suppliersonline.com/propertypages/1095.asp has data sheets for many different types of steels, including quenching methods, hardening methods, and annealing in...

Most sheet metal suppliers will work in metric or thousandths of an inch, so use those measurements instead. You'll be a happier camper for it.

Kick ASS! Cheval and Paul thanks for the pointers. Regarding the abs, I must admit that I myself don't tighten them when I through the shot (using a kind of whipping motion traveling up the body). I will do some shots with tightened ab muscles (such as they are) and see what the affect of them are. ...

It takes a lot of practice though, and a steady hand. The main problems with it is: #1) hard to weld thin metals (...
