Re: "Fall of Pride" repro available- interest?

Right, here we go. Obviously the finished product would not be white plaster but would be cast in brown resin and detailed to resemble the original wood like the other pieces.

Re: "Fall of Pride" repro available- interest?

Uilleam, this would be in three glorious dimensions, cast directly from the original. It's similar in character to this piece here: http://www.oakappledesigns.com/Knights_Jousting_-_Medieval_Reproduction_Cathedral_Wood_Carving_-_English_Heritage/p645787_2962749.aspx but about half again as long, for...

"Fall of Pride" repro available- interest?

I have been negotiating with the owner of Oakapple Designs in the U.K. to produce a reproduction of the 14th century misericord carving of the "Fall of Pride" from Lincoln Cathedral. They apparently have the exclusive license to do direct casting from a whole range of period church sculpture. Their ...

I think I have a leather canteen treated with Envirotex on the inside, in preference to wax. What does that dry like in color and texture? The food-contact surfaces are the most visible.

That's purty. There are lots of 15th century and later halberd heads on the market and not nearly enough early ones. I'm tempted to commission one of those from you, maybe after the war depending on funds.

ISO advice for repairing ceramics

I have a need to repair a couple of ceramic 14th-century style pitchers that got damaged during shipment. One's merely chipped, the other lost a handle. Can anyone recommend A) a putty/filler product for chipped areas that's non-toxic, waterproof when dry, and paintable; and B) a strong enough indus...

Re: Question on rattan rondel dagger hardware

The Windrose aluminum rondel guards on my dagger measure a hair over 3" wide and about 5/16" thick in the center (difficult to measure from the edge), tapering outward to 1/8" thick- sort of a flying-saucer profile. I believe the hole for the rattan on the forward guard is about 1 1/8". I can't see ...

Re: Removing mail stains

Well, color me impressed- thanks, Eleanor! Here's what the juice of one lemon and a couple of hours in the sun did. The front panel on the left was treated, I left the other untreated for comparison (also, I didn't want to use up my wife's last lemon!). The brown stains from the leather belt weren't...

I've been using Oxyclean on it for a while, but this is several years' worth of ground-in oil. What I'd really like to do is lighten it up enough that the clean low spots left from the old quilting aren't quite so glaring. I stripped out all the old vertical quilting in the peplum and want to redo t...

It's primarily black stuff rubbing off the steel (oil? hot-rolled scale?) and not rust. I'll give the lemon juice and salt a go and put it outside tomorrow. Worst case, I might end up smelling like a marguerita. :)

No, not "male stains," you filthy minded people. There is also red-brown staining left from the leather belt for same, and red ...

Do you have a stop-rib in stock, and does it have the same hammer marks on the terminals as the sample on your site? If you can grind those smooth, I'll take one. My new globose is feeling naked.
