Re: C15 Bras from Lengburg castle

It's hard to tell with the image of the Bocaccio woodcut being so small, but I seem to see a difference between the men and the woman. The men appear to have have a short line between crotch and leg, possibly representing the wrinkle formed by the "pouch." The woman's "panties" appear to have a smoo...

Thanks, Vail, for saving me from temptation! :) I need another set of gauntlets like I need another hole in the head, but I know what a pain in the ass it is to upgrade these things. Nice work, Eric.

Nice site and nice-looking work. I'm glad to see that you've entered the market for period tooled leather cases, since Cat Gullet is no longer officially active in that trade. I'll keep you in the back of my mind for any future projects.

Are these SCA or dress/LH sallets? I've been thinking of picking one up for a 15th-century LH kit, just curious what they look like. Pictures?

I suppose the next best thing is calling them out publicly as thieves and warning the community not to buy from them. They can't very well sue you for libel without opening their own practice up to scrutiny.

Re: Warning to sellers of buckles and other cast metal items

You buy my Bocksten tunic and cut it apart for a pattern- copyright infringement -BAD! ILLEGAL! Gwen, let me split that hair a little finer if I may- if I were to take a pattern off one of your Bockstens and then make tunics from that pattern in order to resell them, that would be illegal. If I use...

It's mostly the length- 12" overall is a little more than I want to carry on my belt in addition to my dagger. The scale of the knife/pricker set is what I'm looking for. I won't make it to West-An Tir this year, but I can ask my laurel to bring me home a shiny souvenir. :)

That kitchen knife and scabbard are way too beautiful to hide in the kitchen. If you feel like making another set robust enough and at the right size for belt wear, I'm interested.

The above is from A.J. Grant's translation of Notker, originally published in 1926. Lewis Thorpe's more recent 1969 translation renders the passage as follows. It scans much the same but has some subtle but significant variations, which I've noted in boldface. Even if one allows for flaws in transla...
