There's also a bloody gorgeous little 14th century mounted knight figure in the Met. The thought of the entire set to match... ooh, words fail me.

Are there any other famous sets? I haven't seen any.

I saw a repro set on e-bay a couple of years ago that was supposedly based after an early 14th-century German set- I shoulda snapped it up as I haven't seen the pattern since. It was rather nice.

From my recent experience futzing around with both leather and shell articulation, I'm pretty sure you can't get a vambrace to articulate properly to a cop on just a pair of rivets but without lames. There just isn't enough of a turning radius. My current solution is to have a pair of parallel strap...

I like this idea but why wait till the end, perhaps a special tent set with a few nice props, tapestries, and furniture just for photography.

I'm mostly thinking of people's camps. I agree a dedicated photo tent for outfits would be great. "Prom photos," anyone? :)

Regading critique, I would prefer to do it after the event. I have had some experience with attempting to do an After Action Review at the end of an event, and I have to say "Not so fun." Fair enough. I think my gist is that if we allow participants to first confess to what they think are the worst...

I am going to look into a fluff and fold and dry cleaning service to help folks with getting their kit cleaned during the event-- Maybe for the fancy stuff. For the whites, why not see if someone is willing to run an on-site hand-washing service? What could be more authentic to a military encampmen...

I particularly like the Compagnia di Porta Giovia. Some very nice variations in kit for the battle, nothing cookie-cutter about them. We should look so authentic. You have a very finely focused eye for the little stuff. I was going to suggest having some sort of committee to take notes on everyone's...

At the rate my kit is coming together, I may not be ready to take a comprehensive photo until pretty close to the event. I have enough garb to pass for a merchant for about 2 days, but not for someone of the squire class for a week. My helmet's still in pieces waiting for me to finish the liner Mk. ...

Just looked at Matuls' site for the first time. Although, as a rule, I try not to criticize my competition in public, I must say his Charles de Blois pourpoint fits his model like a cheap tent. He seems to have altogether missed the point of the grand asiette design.

Good deal, that's just what I wanted to know. I'm considering some of their pre-dyed twills for arming coat production, but I want some options in the heavier tabby-weave canvas too. Since most of the women seem to be wearing tight-fitting gowns, and one even has tippets, my sense is that this is more likely to be late 14th century than early 15th- though the helm does appear to have the later frogmouth profile.
