Re: Summer Garage Cleanout Part 2
What is your head size? I have a vintage 16 ga mild bascinet shell that might work for your fencing purposes, and a complete 12 or 14 ga mild Coburg-pattern hundsgugel with 2 visors that's on the XXL side. I have a 23.5" head and it has room for at least an inch of padding- it was probably made for ...

Maybe it all flaked off, or the project ran out of money before the bling could be finished?

Re: Need help with 14th century legs
This is not to say that cased greaves and a foundation garment MUST be worn to let you fight effectively in steel cuisses; it entirely depends on what system works best for you. I've converted to the doctrine of the holy pourpoint and I'll never go back to a C-belt, but YMMV.

Re: I need a horse! sale - Terry T mask, Merc Tailor stuff,
Tentative dibs on the white gloves, leather gorget, and rusty spaulders pending size info and price offer. PM imminent…
Edit: Halbrust can have first dibs on the gorget if it fits him- he types faster than I, apparently.

Re: Need help with 14th century legs
We don't have a lot of precise information on leg suspension, particularly in the transition period. As a general rule, gamboised (quilted) cuisses were probably used as a supplemental defense for the thighs in addition to mail chausses, though the "poor bloody infantry" might have worn quilted legs...

Re: Armed and Armored Woman? Image ID?
All the armored parts of her seem to be still in sketch form, whereas the rest of her is a finished painting. I suspect those areas were originally meant to have been silvered- was the fresco left unfinished, or was the metal foil stripped off cleanly enough to leave the underdrawing intact? Note th...

It doesn't have the GDFB's craptastic 45 degree angle on the pivot arm where it was welded together, and the oculars look like they might actually be raised, not welded: http://www.globalgear.com.au/Files/Products/Hanwei/Armour/AB0423_1%20Houndskull%20Bascinet%20Helmet,%2014G%20pop1.jpg It's still a...

Re: Price of Lewis Moore finger gauntlets?
You might want to look around and see what Wisby gauntlet plate kits are going for. At the least, they're worth the value of the labor to make the plates. If I was the buyer, I'd want to take them apart and strip them down to bare metal pieces for rebuilding, but I'm kinda OCD like that.

Blue-tinted glass
Quick toss-out to the hive mind: has anyone seen evidence for everyday glass drinking vessels circa 1300 - 1500 with a distinct blue color? All the surviving examples, when they have a color, appear to be green. The Romans used blue glass, as did the Anglo-Saxons, and there's the odd luxury vessel i...
