I’ll leave these rings on here until Friday, the 7th of June for the price of $200 with the buyer paying for shipping. I can’t go any lower than that as I’m already taking a bite on the price of these rings.

I’ve got another question on rolling edges. How do I keep a round edge from folding and rolling? I’m just doing one fold on the edge and can’t keep the thing from funking out.

Thank you all for help on this. POD I did get the dishing form. Thanks. I have to do a bit of work on it first before it will though. The little words engraved on it, tend to mark the aluminum up. This week I'm planning on having it welded in so I can grind it smooth. Sasuke, I've got no idea what a...

I’ll try a better mallet or hammer when I get a chance to make one. I’ve a large ball peen hammer I’ve been thinking of cutting down to do dishing work with. The other option I’ve thought of using is the nylon side of a non-marring mallet. Putting it in my drill press and rounding it out som...

Ok this is my first real attempt at dishing. Off of the kettle helm pattern that one of you nice enough to upload for us. The metal is 18ga aluminum and pictured are my tools, dishing stump and what not. As you tell in the picture the dishing isn’t deep enough for my liking. Not to mention that th...

ROSCO 5/16th Stainless 14.5-15ga rings for sale

Ok I’ve decided to entertain lower prices for these rings. I was asking $275 for all of the rings (new price is about $336 from ROSCO). There are roughly 28,000 rings. I have good quantity of ROSCO #6 rings for sale. The rings sell for about $60 for 5,000 rings (plus shipping). If you're not famil...

The ones I use are the short drill bits. That way you can apply lots of pressure with less fear of the bit breaking. The cobalt and tungsten carbide both seem to work well for stainless.

One idea came up from someone in our barony had an idea. What if you take and coat the inside of the metal with clay? Let the clay harden and then quench it metal side down into the water.

Any idea what that would do?

Besides the etching the shown armor is just about perfect. I can’t see anything wrong with it.

That body armor with the articulated legs is almost exactly like a suit I saw in Germany up at a castle outside of Frankfurt, Germany. It’s the one they have the huge medieval market at every year. Can’t remember the name, but it’s got a Huge trebuchet and catapult out front of it. The only di...

The last time I was in Harbor Freight I took a ball peen hammer and gave their anvil a good hit. Nothing too hard or too soft. Basically what I’d use for a copper rivet. The hit left a good-sized dent in the anvil. If you’re working steel, I’d suggest a chunk of railroad track. ---------------...

One of the good gentles in out barony works with titanium on regular basis. I was surprised to find some information about titanium online. Though limited. The ways I’ve found to cut it are as follows. 1. Beverly shear. A beverly #1 (small one) seems to cut 16ga just fine. Even in 8in circle out o...

Good pattern for a kettle helm?

I need a good pattern for kettle helm. I plan on making a couple of them. One, for my soon to be 3 year old son out of 18-20ga aluminum and one for myself. Does anyone have a good pattern for one? I check the archives and found no mention of them.

Craig I think he means solid rings, not punched ones for riveting. You can use a hole punch to make solid rings. It takes 2 sets of punches and 2 dies. The Whitney number 5/ HF punch will do up to a 9/32. So it’s not really an option unless you like tiny rings. I’ll use the example of the ones I...

It sounds like you dulled the punches.

Put the punch in a drill press and sharpen it by grinding it down until the edge is 90deg again. Don’t grind the sides.

You can punch 4 holes with a HF punch in 18ga titanium before they give out. LOL
