I haven't run across this and I'm kind of surprised by that. Recognizing holds would be the biggest issue and in individual fights it should be easily accomplished by having the marshal interpose his staff at eye level between the fighters when a hold is called. Melee's would be another issue. Can s...

Sounds like a cool project Russ, good luck with it. You can get Cornus Mas through the Arbor day Foundation but it doesn't appear to grow in Texas. Saddly, they don't carry European Yew sapplings so I need to find a whoesale supplier of that for a long term project of mine. I'll ask around duuring m...

No high speech, as I'm ill and haven't the energy for it. Besides which, I see this as amodern concern an idea rather than a medieval one. I believe the danger to the populace is overstated. Our fighting even as practiced by the hardest hitting of men is very safe i tewrms of serious injury. Men che...

I agree with Adam, if your going for Bohemian I'd look elswhere. This decorative style ( particularly the broad upper band) seems to be primarily English. Very few English effigies show mounts for visors which I think is more likley do to artistic choices than an indication that bascinets without vi...

I am looking for pictures of an effigy from around the 14c it has a knight with a globose breastplate and instead of faulds there is a scale skirt coming off the breast plate. pretty sure the first name of the knight depicted was Hans and i believe that the second name also started with H but i can...

Unless I am misunderstanding something, the first plates to the left and right of the central plate are articulated with leather, yes? No, the large plates on either side of the of the central plates are fastened to the central plate via riveting. Even if they were connected to the central plate vi...

I've a selection of these coins from Jehan. Quite more than my rank might suggest so I must have shared the capture of someone of substance These coins are great reproductions, worth having just to look at let alone the value they add to any portrayal. I've yet to see the burnished coins in person b...

I've been looking over some English figure sculpture refrences trying to spot somethign similar. Not much luck. It does seem odd for a sculpture to show a person in half armoured state though. More an more I uspect that this is not a textile armour unless it's not meant to represent an English king.
