I haven't run across this and I'm kind of surprised by that. Recognizing holds would be the biggest issue and in individual fights it should be easily accomplished by having the marshal interpose his staff at eye level between the fighters when a hold is called. Melee's would be another issue. Can s...

Sounds like a cool project Russ, good luck with it. You can get Cornus Mas through the Arbor day Foundation but it doesn't appear to grow in Texas. No high speech, as I'm ill and haven't the energy for it. Besides which, I see this as amodern concern an idea rather than a medieval one. I believe the danger to the populace is overstated. Our fighting even as practiced by the hardest hitting of men is very safe i tewrms of serious injury. Men che...

I agree with Adam, if your going for Bohemian I'd look elswhere. This decorative style ( particularly the broad upper band) seems to be primarily English. Very few English effigies show mounts for visors which I think is more likley do to artistic choices than an indication that bascinets without vi...

Definitely based on early 15th cetnury effigies as far as the decoration and form goes. I'm with Talbot on the visor style definitely a side pivot with a houdnskull shape eithe rvery pointed or somewhat blunted.
It's purty.

The rubber axe heads Murdock referred to above are pretty good though I think they are too light to simulate real polaxes well. That said, they are the best thing I've seen for use in a any bouting system similar to what the SCA does.

The4th pic makes the edge look very thick because of the way the light's catching the roll. I thought it was thick too at first glance.

I've been looking over some English figure sculpture refrences trying to spot somethign similar. Not much luck. It does seem odd for a sculpture to show a person in half armoured state though. More an more I uspect that this is not a textile armour unless it's not meant to represent an English king.
