Aside form the Hohenklingen effigy there are a number of sources depicting covered aventails. While these all appear to depict cloth leather is not out of the question. You could simulate a covered mail aventail by making your leather piece and adding small dags of mail atound the edges similar to t...

You’ve now limited it to just single combats and required permission that is not already required. The Combat of the Thirty could not have happened at Pennsic last year under this proposal as worded. Sorry, I glossed over that part. I agree with Asbjorn and wouldn't want to be taking a step ...

I have amiller Syncrowave 180SD and am very pleased with it. I think there a few hundred more than what your looking to spend (assuming you're buying new) but you might find a deal on a used one. For armouring I haven't found a water cooled torch necessary as the weld times are fairly short but YMMV.

As James said, we really don't know. I've never seen documentation for any method of supporting the legharness from the 14th or 15th century. However, most 14th cent cuisses that I've seen have holes or rivets across the top where a leather pointing tab, similar to those seen on some vambraces, seem...

Afer your rehab try different forms and see how they feel. I've been able to sticjk to speatr and pole when I couldn't use shielsd and weapon due to various injuries. I find there's less of a tendency to hyper-extend the joints when using a two hand weapon.

I agree with Gaston. If our armoured elbows can take a blow from a baton I wouldn't expect damage from using them to push. I can see objections to getting hit by an elbow as it means being struck with an unpadded piece of metal but , excepting one of those spikey late 15th centry couters, I don't th...

I'd say no because gaunts don't offer the near perfect protection of basket.

At first reading the wording of Asbjorn's proposal appears sound to me.

I make SCA rondel daggers welding discs to either end of a length of thin waled tube. The pommel disk is solid and the front disc is punched with an opening corresponding to the size of the tube ( I usually use @1" tube which I crush a bit so it's an oval). the blade is a piece of rattan shaved down...
