Hi Richard, the first and last pictures are way past the 14th century and I'm not sure what the fellow in the middle is supposed to be portraying but I don't recognize it as representative of 14th cent armour. They also represent munition grade defences for the common soldiery of their time. I think...

Hi Richard, I've never seen anything corresponding to the 15th century jack in any 14th century sources. There are a number of examples of longsleeved quilted garments from the later half of the 14th century and into the early part of the 15th, most noteably the Hohenklingen effigy, The jupon of Cha...

I have two jupons made by Marcel the first of which is, like Asbjorn's, based on the Charles VI example. I've yet to wear it in combat as it's outer shell is covered with a red cotton velvet so I'm saving it for special occaisions. It's the first she made based on this pattern with Asbjorn's being t...

Jehan, If you're considering the 12oz Dharma material for testing I may be able to send you a section. I had a 30yrd bolt and I believe my seamstress probalby has a good bit left. I can check with here if you're interested. It's a sort of antique white color by the way- lighter than the linen Black ...

My understanding is this: What coins one recieves as ransom could be; kept as a souvenier ( perhaps to occaisionally bestow as a token of esteem to some man- at arms at some point in future?), given to some hospital or such other worthy cause who could exchange them for the local currency, which the...

BdB, There ae rule differences between the palte and mail tourney and the Combat of the Thirty. The former uses an armour as worn standard while the latter ussing an assumed armor standard of transitional plate. You'd be better off with the hodgepodge of stuff for the former and while you'd be expec...

You wont be able to buy them at Pennsic but if you have a chance check out the gauntlets made by Kelson or myself. I made a cevellier/greathelm combo for Sir Logan aka John Mackenzie from the Mid so maybe he'll answer your questions regarding fighting in such a set up. Just the cervellier from Jon's rig would run $200 while a simpler more rounded version ( his is a center point) would run around $175 in mild or ...

The Pembridge and Black Prince helms have a general similarity of line but they're actually constructed quite a bit differently. The upper part of the Pembridge helm is constructed in two pieces: the plate that meets the bottom plate to form the occularia and the small cap plate. The upper portion o...

Not that one actually, although it is made up of plates from Chalcis as well. The one I was refering to is made up of more and smaller plates and hasn't been mucked about with as much as the one on display. It's closer in construction to the Wisby coats in that it's not tailored and most of the plat...
