Well, for a start, you can go with padding that's grey or black rather than blue so it's not so noticeable I'm not really comfortable relying on period materials alone to avoid concusion so what I suggest is to instal a layer of high quality shock absorbing foam and sew a tow filled linen liner over...

Absolutely amenable. Kevin's piece is done save for tassets and final polishing. I plan on shooting a few pics for him tomorrow and the whole thing should ship by early next week. Which will be tough since Kevin's build is similar to Jeff's and mine and we kind of would like to keep it :)

The closest Barony is Carillon but it's kind of a grey area since N Burlington County isn't actually listed as belonging to any group.

For .064 alloy 260 brass the cost for a set of round top halves would be $48 plus shipping which would be $8.00 if you're in the lower 48. So, $56 total.

If you want to order contact me via the e-mail in my profile.

Cheers

I can second Mord's recomendation for Blairs' "European Armour" and I would suggest "Arms and Armour of the Medieval Knight" by Edge and Padok. The Later is an excellent survey of the development of armour through the middle ages and Renaissance with lots of very usefull photographs. both of these a...

I've always read the rule as meaning that any material used must be at least equivalent in strength and mass to mild steel measuring .0625 inches so 18 guage s/s of any alloy would not quailify. Out of curiosity how did you test the strength of the stainless you have?

If you want to do the finish work yourself I can sell you a Rough from the Hammer breastplate for $55 in stainless or $45 in mild for up to a 48" chest. Do you mean that both days of longsword will assume no armour? If so I'd vote for one assuming no armour and one assuming transitional.

Not so far, though there is some evidence for the guilding of mail in the 16th cent on the Mail Research Society site. I'd like to do something to keep my Forth haubergeon from rusting but I don't what to do something I can't justify in a mid 14th cent context :(

I'll keep searching.

I made a matched set for a customer a while back. I think he goes by Logan of Seaforth here on the archive but I could be wrong. The great helm was actually based on the Black Prince helm more than the Pembridge but they're similar. The bascinet was based on the Becadelli (sp?) effigy.

It was good to see you there. Nice job heralding by the way.

Kelson's armour was actually stainless but he spent a good bit of time finishing it to look more like mild.

The article states that the helm is original but that the bolts were "assembled by Bashford Dean..."
