I understand, but I don't think that well made armour using period materials really does put you at a competitive disatvantage.

Your right about there being a lot of posts about armorers ripping people off but I think if you went back over them you'd find that 95% those posts are about maybe half a dozen armorers. I think better advice would be to ask for reviews here and on other boards befor laying down your cash.

I't depends, sometimes the following blow of a combination hits befor or as the opponent is dropping. If there's a pause for some reason I'll step out of range and let the opponent's comfortable.

When I'm legged I often throw blow on the way down.

I'm particularly interested in particulars regarding thickness as that's something I've never come across. Well, the metallurgy of medieval armour is a relativly new and fairly complex area of study and if you want a real in depth examination of it I'd suggest Dr Allan Williams " The Knight and the Blast Furnace" However, I'll take a stab at a very general ,if not to say gross oversimplification. What we...

I think any of the 3xx series stainless steels woul;d have adequate corrosion resistance for a gas tank but 304 would probably be ideal since it's designed to be less to exhibiy less corrosion in weld areas than 302.

According to what sources I have pewter workhardens very little and has too low a melting point to anneal. This specifically refers to an alloy of 4 prts tin to 1 prt lead so it may not apply to lead free pewters.

The "typical" body armour would likely have been coats of plates over an aketon and haubergeon. Armour for the limbs would have run the gamut; mail chausess, gamboised cuisses, cuisses of splinted or COP type construction and possibly full plate legs (probably more likely at Poitier than at Crecy). ...

Prima facia I'd have to say very little. 1. To the best of my knowledge the mail used isn't representative typical medieval mail from any period I'm familiar. the butted construction is incorrect as is the thickness and shape of the wire. 2. 1. Get rid of acted out wounds in favor a counted blows system.

2. Make plate proof against arrows

3. Allow limited body to body contact (pushing and shoving mainly.

4. Allow lower leg targeting in tournements where the participants are armored for it.
