Ah .. then you were the mystery man my buddy and I were speaking to about "boiling" leather using the tad of oil in the mix. For some reason I remember you as having redder coloured hair. Too many head hits I suppose ... Glad to see you on the list!!! ------------------ "His troops would follow him ...

I always recommend Dru Shoemaker. He price isn't cheap ($100+) but they are totally period and they are damn comfy! I'd suggest shooting him an email with what you're looking for and see what he suggests or can do. What's the worse he's going to do ... tell you "no, I can't do it ..."? http://www.ar...

O.k. by early period .. which ones do you mean, the 13th Century ones? I use the 14th Century style and they're pretty self explanitory (pull on, tie belt strings and run points threw grommet holes to hold chausses up). 13th Century ones would be pretty similar, unless you are running with the point...

I just installed a linen with cotton stuffing liner at Blackstone Raids a couple weeks ago. I can honestly say I will not go back. I have much better ventilation, padding feels very nice and works beautifully (even when sweat soaked). For drying, I just pull it inside out to air out(so it's sticking...

Well ... all of mine have involved them wearing the 'chux "logo/symbol". If they were wannabees, I would have called them on it. That's the undergear Duke Logan was recommending wasn't it? Yep, it's the evaporation that's the key (or so I've found). Most of the wicking garmets are lightweight and thin, allowing rapid wicking with maximum exposure to air. Gambeson's are thicker (for padding) and don't transfer the effects of the evaporation as well. If your gambeson is sealed up tight,...
