Sasuke (Oaks Armoury out of MN). I love 'em and his customer service (which follows the items from owner to owner) is a main reason I value his gear. It's worth every penny.

Re: "How A Man Shall Be Armed" question....

I use bulwarks under my 1380's harness. They work great to support, pad and keep the joint warm & happy. At the moment I'm using hooks to hold them in place (I often wander about in my chausses & braises after I've dropped my armour to clean, oil & wax up before putting it away and it he...

Oh please share. I'm looking for a set to mount up on my leather demi's. Mainly need the thumbs to make them legal with my center grip (Midrealm) but figure I'd most likely have to buy them as a set and may as well finish off the others too.

Still running with my later 14th C. harness for the 'proper & official' mafia tourneys. Absolutely LOVE the helm, Ian - I've always thought that style of visor (with the single, straight ocular) seems particularly menacing... Do you find that it restricts your peripheral vision any more than ot...

1/8 - 1/4" Sorbethane (easy to order online & install) and my stuffed horse hair linen suspension liner in a decent gauge helm. Has kept me right and proper during many a Cot30!

Re: Show me some great kits 14th century mafia

Randall, I'm thankful for your appreciation on the bascinet & visor. The visor is Patrick Thaden's work. His interpretation/adaption for LH/SCA work based on the extant piece in the Nuremburg Museum fitted to the helm. It's beautiful and I can't even being to describe how function it is as a foo...

Re: Combat boots or bust.

Sir Vitus, I heartily recommend an American style football shoe. Mid high top with a forefoot strap. These shoes are designed to protect the foot from injury, provide great stability and keep the foot from turning in the shoe. They also have a very streamlined profile that lends well to disguising ...

When I had a bit larger draping aventail, I used points at those locations to help support/hold it and distribute some of the weight instead of having it pull straight down. Similar to this style/method on this statue of St. George. http://effigiesandbrasses.com/monuments/saint_george_dijon/image/58...

OK, if we assume these numbers are correct (plus or minus 100 or so) what can we conclude by the numbers? Warmer locations with a higher population density have more fighters? Kingdom cultures? Etc... It is interesting but the variables are huge. -Aaron Midwest folks turn in paperwork as requested?

If all goes well, I will have mid 14th century kit put together by the middle of May. The metal bits won't have much in terms of fancy trim, but I believe the overall kit will be very appropriate for the time frame and my station. So if someone will have me, I would love to participate in the CotT....

Re: FYI new shirt from Zoombang REVIEWED

Used at Roaring Wastes' (Midrealm) FP last night instead of my linen Charles de Blois (don't worry it was well hidden under a linen tunic and maille). Fit well, pads stayed covering what they were supposed to and with the maille over top it worked very well. I could 'feel' the shots but didn't have ...

What suspension system works best for folks? I'd want to make sure that when I go for my dagger, its actually there, and not sliding around somewhere else on my hips, or twisted at an odd angle, or gone because it dumped out somewhere and I didn't notice. I'm doing 14th C. English. What works well?...

Snagged a nice deep red liripipe hood to wear as a Midrealm Captain and then noticed the period style/influenced marshal hoods. Much nicer than a simple sash or tabbard. Snagged one of them as well!
