Just put a pic of mine in another thread ... had the bauz on for the Pennsic melee but fight with alum/leather forearm slints under the linen sleeves. Would also add leather drap over the helm slats. This was linen overtunic for Pennsic instead of the sturdy/lighter wool overtunic I normal fought wi...

I am cogitating on raising a dark army of sellswords. We could wear black tape. Hmm ... yellow often seemed to be the colour...

An early X-mas present! Mine arrived today! Sweet bejebus it's a beaut! Put in a temp padding rig and the visibility is incredible! It seems almost 'balanced' with the aventail on it. Little late on this but thought I might chime in. Used to do 'working' wooden gear for SCA'er and LH'ers before corporate came along and lure me off to another career. Found I couldn't keep enough small working camp boxes in stock. Folding and solid wooden armour stands were big sellers. Also made s...

Endorsement on Windrose SS. I ordereded mine and had them w/i a few days have held up excellent (aside for a certain Midrealm 'uber' Duke who was 'teaching' me and put a minor crease/bend into the upper flare). Good to hear things have migrated and hoping the markings of the new place will be completed soon. Given pells drills and video review would be done on your own time (sacrificing something else). I'd push for 3 days of sparring and 2 days of partner drills. If you have 6 days, then 3 of each. This is translating our fighting to what we did for combat pistol team in CID. The video review and eval ...

I would think someone could make a modern design, low profile spring steel gauntlet with modern rubberized padding over the joints then attach a maille cover overtop. Get the period appearance of a maille mitten with leather palm while keeping fingers intact for modern 'stick' and/or steel fighting.

One thing I found after fighting for awhile is some fighters never get 'enough' ... if, after the 'listed' fights are done, you go out onto the field and set up a barrier or just go out with sword and shield in hand, the fun guys often come out to play. It's an odd set of schoolyard rules. One of th...
