Very nice arms. and 1 and a half pounds seems fairly reasonable as far as weight goes.
I think it was great what you and Stormkeep did. It is nice to see such good deeds.
How did the armour work out for Robyn?

how is your mobility at 21 layers? If it fairly stiff or is it still flexible. How has it worked and held up for you?

I have an article by David Edge and Alan Williams attributing it to England from the late 90's and have not seen anything else. Any info appreaciated as usual. Can you describe it a little more not sure exactly what I am looking at. I think most locking pins I have seen come in during the 14th but will go look through some pictures to make sure. Also what do you mean by locking pins? A pin that has a spring behind it or one that has a pin through it?

once you get over 20 layers the linen (depending on its weight) will make it semi-rigid. The ones I have seen made over 20-25 layers can stand up on their own. Basically like Tim said,go with thinner layers over places that need to move. Are you using this as a stand alone defense? They still had pa...

I have never spoke to a single curator of arms and armour at many of the better known armouries (I still have some to find still) that thinks backplates were not used before 1400. it really is not that hard to form after. In fact recently I have come to feel that formed edges may be easier than 2 dimensional curves to roll. It reall is not that hard though if you have a nice solid thing to work with. A cut rail road rail with one of the curved sides faceing up works very well...

Cat, Something also to look at is your pain tolerance and natural arm padding.
