Re: Crossroads in Time 2014
Is that ok? I know someone that got a monster fine for doing that not all that long ago. My understanding is dead wood and stuff that is fall is fine but living ones require a permit. If you have not had problems with it here maybe it is not an issue but I'd have for anyone to end up paying 500 buck...

That is the chest measurement on tha max side with basically no padding. I made this when I was a bit smaller. I put it on for some pictures and am about 41-42". It has some room for space though as the side panels can take some modification. I suspect those real slim guys 38-40" will do best with t...

PM me your email and I'll send it ASAP.
Killian,
I'll see if I have any. It is my first realish sallet from 2001 or 2002 and was used very little so might have to get new ones. Mostly it lives in my office on my full harness stand.

Splinted arms I think are taken but if interested I'll make a list up so let me know.

A small cache of armour for sale-
So I have been making armour for two decades now. I realized after the last move that I had far more helmets than heads and that I needed to start to cut my collection down. Some of it is used (by me) over the years and old harnesses that I used once or twice or never finished and now am thinking wo...

Would me making a 1mm alum pan from two layers work? One thicker aluminum plate at the bottom and another on top with a large cut out in the center to make solid sheets? Just pour it to the top of the Aluminum second layer and should be pretty close to 1mm thick? Granted I have not worked in pewter ...

Henrik,
No bowing needed. Just making some observations.
Matt,
We have a pretty large amount of molds for other bronze items so who knows perhaps someday.

Re: Helm thickness variation data from Greek Helm
Matt, No you are fine. I am glad such work is being done as it helps get far more info out than has been done. I just want to make people aware of some of the aspects that help in interpreting these. Especially if I were having a helmet made custom I'd want the back skull thicker myself for example....

Re: Helm thickness variation data from Greek Helm
Henrik, The issue is as Dan mentions. They only use edge measurements. The issue then is what accuracy do these studies have for anywhere else on the helmet besides the bottom edge? Where is the info from sallets from? As far as I know of 0 that look at thickness of the skull other than at the face ...

Re: Helm thickness variation data from Greek Helm
Tom, Neat project. Just a few quick thoughts. I have handled a few of these helmets as well and generally it does indeed seem to be true that the face is thick. I do worry about using the back and top thicknesses as definitive though on this helmet. Clearly this helmet in that area is highly degrade...

Thanks for the help! I may get one and try it out. Plywood and some Alum bar does sound pretty straight forward as well. Does pewter not stick to Alum?
