Legal yes. I've heard from people they would be considered a "good" hit if struck with appropriate force. Just like other armor you wear. We are all "wearing" chain mail halberks, even if in full gothic plate or just wearing a kidney belt. I think they look sharp, but just something to snag a blow t...

Just a question, is that all you will be using for edging? In Drachenwald's Kingdom rules your edging has to give some protection to your opponates rattan. It would seem to me your edging would "eat" rattan and spit out toothpicks. ------------------ Saranac Goetz Shire of Flintheath Isles errr Insu...

In Atlantia, was in shield wall harrasing a Barron 2-3 people away from me on other side. Blocked a few spear shots to face. Leaned in to sneak the Barron, stepped back, seen a spear shot comming in, leaned back and spear caught bottom edge of my sugarloaf. The pressure flipped the helm down, top ed...

Greetings, If your fighting SCA, you may want to check your kingdom rules on single weapon weight. That seems a bit heavy. From what i remember < dont have the book in front of me > a single handed weapon's max weight is like 5lbs. But i could be wrong. I think Pole Arms and great weapons only go up...

It realy all depends on what your looking for. I use a full gauntlet with leather straps. Looks good and don't notice any hinderance. With a Shield Basket, your balance point will change soon as you add the basket. The good thing with using a strap method, if your shield arm gets taken < unlikely bu...

I was told your shield not only protects you, but protects your opponite as well. I'm thinking about thining down my shield a little so I can swing around it easier without opening myself up as much. A little long. Or you could go for a suspension liner. Take a piece of paper. Cut it so it fits inside the helm and fills it with the edges matching. Use this as a pattern. Take 2-4 layers of 100% natural material < i used cotton > the a little bigger then you would need for your pattern. Quilt leng...

Aluminium rating
Greetings everyone,
Looking to buy an Aluminium shield. I've seen 3 grades or tempers of aluminium, 5052, 6061 and 7075 < all t-6 type >. Which is the most durable, resilliant. For SCA club thumping that is. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Saranac Goetz

Unfortuantly with Siloflex, he would have to taper down his 1 1/8" rod to a 1" rod. Siloflex has to have a 1/8" outer wall. Either that or get Siloflex that is wider and you be wielding a nice chunk at 1 3/4". Either way. Quick and dirty way. Assuming you are using a basket hilt. cut sword to length...
