Legal yes. I've heard from people they would be considered a "good" hit if struck with appropriate force. Just like other armor you wear. We are all "wearing" chain mail halberks, even if in full gothic plate or just wearing a kidney belt. I think they look sharp, but just something to snag a blow t...

Just a question, is that all you will be using for edging? In Drachenwald's Kingdom rules your edging has to give some protection to your opponates rattan. It would seem to me your edging would "eat" rattan and spit out toothpicks. ------------------ Saranac Goetz Shire of Flintheath Isles errr Insu...

As long as the bead penetrates through all the way around, it shouldn't be a problem. I would shoot your Kingdom Earl Marshall and ask him and see what he says.

Most people put padding of somekind < weather camp mat type or have a more period padding inserted inside >. After that they sew/strap the gauntlet to they're glove. I had my glove removeable, some have them rivited/sewin in.

Out here in Drachenwald, if a "glancing" blow from a block still hits you with enough force, ya still take it. I'm assuming you mean blocking just enough to take most of the whoomp out of the hit.

Here in Drachewald there are quite a few people that fight in mail. I don't ask them how badly they are bruised, but seeing them walk off the field just fine after small melee's tells me that it does work. As for me, I'll stick with my stiffer stuff.

Aluminium rating

Greetings everyone,

Looking to buy an Aluminium shield. I've seen 3 grades or tempers of aluminium, 5052, 6061 and 7075 < all t-6 type >. Which is the most durable, resilliant. For SCA club thumping that is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello again, Removable sleeves help in extra hot conditions. At this point, you will have to have very sturdy shoulder points and point your arm's to spaulders or pauldrons < or you can change out long sleeves for short sleeves if so desired. Lacing the sleeves does work, rather well if I do say.

Hello,

If this is for SCA combat, you need to tape that baby up to at least 1 1/4", seems your a 1/4" to short around. That much tape will weight you stick down quite a bit. Of corse you could wrap some leather around it to widen it. Look at your Kingdomes weapons standards.
