Hmm, Hammock between 2 trees, canvas cloth to streach over top to keep rain off of. 25 foot rope. 1 iron pan < cook anything in it > flint and stone < or lighter if you want. sheep skin with wool for on top of hammock. Use cloak for blanket. Wood stool with detachable legs. Make a foldable cross pie...

btw, Long post. Sorry folks. On swords, 2 theories, skin on rattan, skin off rattan. Skin on, lasts longer, tends to be heavier. Skin off, lighter, more exact width, tends to munch easier. There are many ways to do this, this is just My way. Ask around, there are as many opinions how to make an SCA ...

Greetings, For thoes of you going to be in England the end of the month that missed Pennsic. Kirby hall looks to be a hoot. Plus there are 2 events scheduled for the SCA at the end of August. Pennsic Pity Party < guess teh theme of THAT one > in Flintheath and Feast of Llamas in London. If any of yo...

Greetings, If your cop covers the points on your elbow or knee, you should be fine. If a marshall can touch the side's of your knee and elbow without reaching inside of the cop you need some improvment. A simple cop will/should suffice < up to the marshall that is > if they cannot directly touch tho...

The wait for a somewhat custom helm wasn't bad. I've heard others have had similar problems. My only real complaint is some of the rivits are pretty sloppy. Not sure if Master Waldryk does them himself or has apprentices < which do work with him > do them. Lucky for me its only the rivits, easy to e...

Walkdryk's Review.
Master Waldryk is a very personable armorer. Strong opinion yes, but none the less, easy to talk to. In May ordered his SS gauntlets and pauldrons instock and put an order for his Sugarloaf with a brass cross added. My order was misplaced and when his wife realized she forgot to ship it a month had ...

Greetings, We all are assumed to wear a Norman conical with a nasal. With that in mind, a shot to the face irregardless of spear thrust, sword thrust or snap shot, should effectively disable your opponent from blood loss to the eyes < or some effect of that > not necessarily "kill" them. With that i...

Greetings, Basket hilts and shield hilts work alright, they are both relativly large so you can even fit a full gauntlet into them. Slag, yes, wear gloves, for $10 ya can't realy complain. For $90, you can get a pair of SS from Waldryk's that are decent. Good articulation but are not a full cuff < 1...

Greetings, Roberts shield is nice. Accuacly complemented him on it at War of the Roses. His edging barely looks like edging, more like a boarder around his Coat of Arms. I personally have been using black seeper hose for an edging. doesn't look so blatently like garden hose, but looks like an edging...

I know I may get flamed for this but here it goes. Yes, sometimes the athletic approach does kill the "midieval" atmosphere we have all come to love. My first combat experience, Champions of the Isles in GB. Went up agains Sir Michael de Brad. He did an exellent scorpion shot on me. Except my kidney belt slipped. He hit my kidney/short rib area. Yep, I called it quits right about then. Didn't pee blood, called it to good fortune. After a re-desig...

6-1 and 4-1 isn't to bad. I have a Haulberk with 4-1, 6-1 and 8-1 in different locations. Very nice. If you put 6-1 near the inside and 4-1 out the outside it will keep your spread smaller. I personally like the way it looks, but as far as I know not documented < if thats what you are looking for >....

Greetings, With that backplate < providing it is not soft leather > will work fine for "kidney/rib" protection as long as there is some padding underneath it. Rule of thumb for any squishy parts is "Hard over Soft" meaning rigid material over padding. Also make sure that back plate < if your going t...
