I guess because it is supposed to be sort of like hard leather, and this plastic is kinda dull like that... I can't afford real leather, or else I'd just use that! Last time I bought a sheet of HDPE 4x8' it costed around $70 with cutting. I bought leather at Tandy a bend of 14 to 16oz leather coste...

Thanks guys but I don't think the duck tape method will hold up in the plaster cast phase. I want the armorer to have a perfect copy of my legs to get the greaves just right. Another suggestion. Try it, doesn't take long and MUCH less messier. And if it doesn't work, then go your prefered method. I...

James, Have a quick down and dirty method that is fairly safe and clean. Get some thin pajama bottoms. Get in whatever position you want to be in and have someone start to lightly tape your leg. I used duct tape with realy good success. Do a few layers to get it somewhat ridgid. Mark lines horizonal...

You can also use a KONG dog chew toy (spray tool dip makes em black also ). Many on here have had good luck with them. I am currently making one as a backup.

You can also get a Jig Saw for fairly cheap also. Now the quality may very well be suspect, but it will < eventually > cut your steel. Most plasma or CNC shops will ask for a CAD drawing of what you want cut out also. Thoes usually cost $50-$60 for them to design them. With that kind of money you ca...

Hal,

In chat you were talking about the cost estimates of having your stuff plasma cut by a 3rd party. Have you ever looked into purchasing one yourself as a "long term" investment, cutting out the middleman? Would also (possibly) cut down on other patterns. Just a possibility.

Hello,

Use a jig-saw. You will have some rough edges afterwards, use sandpaper to smooth out the edges. You can also use an exacto knive to shive off the edges but I tend to have less luck that route. Jig-saw will go though the plastic like butta.

Neibuligen war < sp? >. Had a wrap shot to back of the head that dented the weld on the crease of a 14ga SS helm. Felt like an excessive greatsword shot. I dropped like a sack of potatoes. Came from a single handed sword. He was a BIG boy and very appoligetic after the fact.
