I guess because it is supposed to be sort of like hard leather, and this plastic is kinda dull like that... I can't afford real leather, or else I'd just use that! Last time I bought a sheet of HDPE 4x8' it costed around $70 with cutting. I bought leather at Tandy a bend of 14 to 16oz leather coste...

Thanks guys but I don't think the duck tape method will hold up in the plaster cast phase. I want the armorer to have a perfect copy of my legs to get the greaves just right. Another suggestion. Try it, doesn't take long and MUCH less messier. And if it doesn't work, then go your prefered method. I...

James, Have a quick down and dirty method that is fairly safe and clean. Get some thin pajama bottoms. Get in whatever position you want to be in and have someone start to lightly tape your leg. I used duct tape with realy good success. Do a few layers to get it somewhat ridgid. Mark lines horizonal...

crushing small children and coleman chairs in the rush.... Ya know, I know that was a dig and all, but it was pretty funny. This does indeed look like a step in the correct direction, I < personaly > would have kept the helm the same standard as heavy fighting though, 18ga mild is getting pretty th...

Hello, I've flown with mine many, many times and just put it in a bag and called it sports equipment. The likelyhood of your bag getting dammaged is the same as anyone else who has bags in the airplane, It is a crapshoot. Have flown with armour from UK-Sweden back, UK-Germany back, UK-US many times ...

Revival has good one's. From what I understand, you can buy them with a vibram sole attached now. I attached my own and have had good luck with them... If you have bad ankles, I would suggest a low-pro ankle brace. They got completely soaked at Estrella this year and when they dried out they dried o...

You can also get a Jig Saw for fairly cheap also. Now the quality may very well be suspect, but it will < eventually > cut your steel. Most plasma or CNC shops will ask for a CAD drawing of what you want cut out also. Thoes usually cost $50-$60 for them to design them. With that kind of money you ca...

Josh, You also forget that our armour standards are from circa 1066. There were also more then just Mail clad knights fighting at that time also. m Look at the left side of this pannel of the Bayeux Tapestry. Clearly men with swords and shields fighting in the Battle of Hastings W/O any visible armo...

Nuther 2. One when first fighting pole arm, had a skinny kiwi < new zelander for you not of the UK > do a wrap and flat snap to my rigs as they were open. Being my first kit, I had no idea what REALY needed protection, so I had 1 rib bruised from the back to the front. That hurt for some time. First...

What I've found with the "ultra-light whippy sticks" as they have been so eloquently called here, I need to use correct body mechanics to achieve a telling blow then just wrist and elbow. I started using "thug sticks" as a rank newbie cuz I didn't know any better. Poor practice and lack of training ...

I prefer a 2 strap approach, one starting from the base of the jaw around the chin back to the other side. Another going from the top of the ears, down under the chin and back up the other side. What I've found this setup prevents the bottom from rotating down and also prevents the top from pulling ...

One of the unspoke implications here is that if a basket-hilt is armor you can't strike it (or grab it). If it is part of the weapon then you can strike it (it doesn't mean anything, but it can be hit). The current and the immediately previous SEM have stated that you cannot deliberately target a b...
