Were you not also the same person who cordinated the Carlonia Stamping form for SS Lamella plates? If memory serves correctly, you are the man to thank for that.

Cat, With the dished portion on the top, I tend to cut rounded triangles at the top and sew them either together to form the dish, or tie them together somewhat like a suspension liner. I did this with my sugar loaf and it worked fairly well. As far as cutting through your stiches, yep, sure do. I j...

Hello,

Another way is to quilt and stuff a section of cloth. Then after it is all complete, cut the pattern out of it. I tend to do that with my aketons and gambeson's. Yes it adds more waste, but it tends < IMHO > to remove the questimations. Just my 2p.

Hello, Another example used for SCA I've seen has a detachable face and top. The back and sides are one unit with mail attached to it. The face and top are attached via pin and hole on the back and the face is buckled around the back also. Gives the apperance of a coif but is not. Lord Aurther of Bl...

I almost did the same thing myself with the newcastle type lamella... however the Auk type are very thin and do flex quite a bit. They are nice for the look in themselves.. but I would imagine you'd have to have a HIGH pain tolerance to use them as a stand-alone armour for SCA activitiy

Sarnac, We have a Knight here that uses a curaiss out of them. In his opinion, they realy don't protect worth a crap, but they do look pretty nifty. They are conciderably thinner then the newcastle, but also alot smaller and look more "real". If you do end up using them, I'd realy suggest using some...

You could always weld the lames in position and use the "decorative" cording. Unfortunatly you won't be able to get away from the bar grill on the face. If Adam does it for SCA use, it will definatly look HOT!

Depends on how rigid you like it. The looser you weave it, the more flexable it will be, but may not be as protective. YMMV.

I've even tried quenching it to see if that works (like on brass) but still no positive results.~Arty heyya, Remember quenching non-ferrious metals < ie Brass > will soften it. Ronnin,

While I'm not Adam, I can explain. Match the leather with the bottom of the lamellar, mark the holes and punch them out of the leather. Weave the leather along with the lamellar on the bottom holes.

Hope that helps a little.
